Sometimes people dont realize how much they are cared for until something
happens to bring it to light.
So now you see!

Subject: Ben in hospital

MikeyD-

re: the Mishebayrach etc.,

this surprised even me:

In the ambulance, on the way to the hospital, I found myself reciting the
Shema in my head!

For those not familiar, the Shema is the cornerstone prayer of Judaism.
It translates as:
"Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One!"
This was the first statement of strict monotheism
at a time of idol worship.
BTW "Israel" refers to the people, not the nation.

Was really tripped out that the Assoc. Rabbi from my synagogue came to visit
me in the hospital Saturday afternoon (on the Sabbath). She told me that at
Friday night services, she mentioned my name in the list for the
Mishebayrach and several people in our Wed. night class came up startled
asking "what's the matter with Ben?". I started crying.
(I'm Reform, not Orthodox - we say the prayer Friday night, not
on Shabbat during Torah reading. Oh, well <g>.)

-Ben
