My dad (platoon leader, Armored Cav (1st tour); company commander, armor company (2nd tour)) was always partial to Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash.
Then there was Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin' (at me)" when that song came on in the car one day (late 70s), my dad listened to it for a little while and then turned it off. He was really quiet for a long time after that and then snapped out of it and when on as normal. A few years ago I asked him if he remembered the song and what it made him think about. He said it reminded him of the Tet offensive and a firefight that cost him his only trooper (KIA) in two tours. Made him sad, but at least he talks about it now...took almost 25 years. Still doesn't like to/can't listen to the song without thinking about the guy. Still remembers his name, age and what he was doing right before he died. will ---- William H.
