That's a great saying! :-)
...Well Ben, I have to admit that Poutine is one of my guilty pleasures, but
it has to be made well! I rarely eat it though.
It's a lot better than it sounds, especially when made well. Of course it is
not one of those heart-friendly kind of dishes! lol ... But none of the
Quebecois dishes are I suspect.
A quick course on Quebecois cuisine, that Dana can correct me on...

Poutine - Fries with cheese curds and gravy
Tourtiere - A kind of meat (pork) pie with some onion and potato in it and
seasoned with cinnamon allspice and cloves
Tarte au Sucre, or "Sugar Pie" - A pie consisting of sugar, maple sugar,
cream and maple syrup or corn syrup if you're going cheap baked in a pastry
shell
Soupe aux pois - Split pea soup made with vegetables and salt pork for
flavouring
Feves au lard - Baked beans made with maple syrup, onions, salt pork and dry
mustard, salt, and pepper

.... you get the idea!

In rural or small town Quebec it's common for people to undo their fly when
they sit down to dinner, at least for men - I'm not sure about women, and I
think it's clear why: there's usually a fair bit of stomach there that wants
to be unconstrained!

bon appetit!
