I say give the teacher a raise. That's going beyond the call. My 7th grade homeroom was a science lab. Our homeroom teacher taught biology.
Whenever any town workers found reasonably fresh roadkill, we would get to disect it first thing the next morning. The crowning moment of the year was the day a farmer trucked in an old horse that had died. That took 2 days to disect. I also learned not to light a bunsen burner without checking that the hose was actually connected to the outlet that was open. Have you ever seen a 6 foot flame shooting across a science lab.
