this might help in the meantime; but I would keep looking. It does smell
like a virus... are your definitions up to date, that's something to check

Q: I am working on a computer with a partitioned hard drive, where the C:
drive is very small. Is there a way to redirect Office Temp files to a
D:/Temp folder instead of C:/Temp?

M Winters

A :Hi M.,

Many of the Word and Windows temp files can be redirected by adding or
adjusting the

SET TEMP=X:\yyyyy

SET TMP=X:\yyyy

lines to C:\Autoexec.bat (where X:\yyyy would be the drive and folder name
for the temp folder you want to use)
