The one that I got was from a Conservative action group.  They send out
emails about petitions and the like... I got on their list while I was
poking arond looking for RNC info last year.

I tend to read what they're sending me and only take action if I agree with
it (there was one I saw where the petition was to install a Judeo-Christian
gov't in post-war Iraq... didn't sign that one, too extreme for my blood).

The email they sent this time was asking for people to email Sears thanking
them for their support.
