Hello Larry, A lone wolf won't attack, but as a pack they do for sure.. I've seen the teeth marks on my neighbors.. A pack of wolves has no natural enemies and they are very bold as a pack. But all of the wolves I've seen act as you've suggest and turn and run. Unlike the Grizzlies we have to chase off with gun fire when fishing. But weve had the most close calls with Momma Mooses they are bad news if you get between them and the babies and our front yard is a moose path, also we've seen large herds of up to 100 caribou it is amazing to see.
