So, the DBA I work with is vacationing in some remote region of Earth, and I am having some serious Oracle problems. We just installed the XML Parser on 8i, and for whatever reason it keeps giving me an error...
ORA-29540: class oracle/xml/parser/plsql/XMLParserCover does not exist At the same time, it does exist. I can query all_objects and there it is! I can DESCRIBE the object, and see it there with all its methods, they look quite nice BUT I CANNOT USE THEM AND I DON'T KNOW WHY EXACTLY. For whatever reason, this is really denting my ego. I am ready and raring to go and have spent months planning this application out. I went to find a mailing list to post my problem... can't find one. I posted the problem on Usenet... silence. I left messages on multiple forums... no response. I asked people OT on CF-Talk, where the guru's gu... noone knew! I searched technet.oracle.com, the place for answers... and there were none. Now, what really perturbs me is that Oracle 9i comes with this support built in, and everybody, their grandmother and their city waste technician seems to know how to straighten this out with the upgrade. But on 8i, no one ever thought to use the XML toolkit, and now I have no one to offer me advice on how to straighten out the problem. Not that I could, because the DBA is the one person on Earth with administrative privledges to this server, and I really just have to wait. But in the meantime AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! I have project angst and it is driving me up a wall!
