PCMagazine offered a copy of msconfig, which works just like the Windows 98
version. As I remember, it was only available to subscribers, but I know of
people who have found it just by googling.

Can somebody point me to a simple diagnostic
tool/setting/configuration/something that can tell me everything that goes
on while my computer is booting. For many weeks, my boot has become
incredible long. It is approaching 10 minutes and more. What concerns me
the most is the hard drive is running like a whip beaten work horse and is
rattling fit to jump out of it's casing. I would like to be able to monitor
what is going on during all of this, to see if I can restore a more sane
boot-up process.
