I grew up in Italy, many years ago. They had flat strings of sharp black
licorice that they rolled up into a coil with a little sugar ball in the
middle. I used to love that stuff. One day I blew my whole allowance on a
bag of it, ran home, ate the whole bag's worth and got miserably sick. That
cured me of licorice . . .
