No. He lived. He had to have a hole drilled in his skull so that the brain
could swell without causing further damage, and both of his legs were
broken. He was in traction for a long time. But, he didn't remember the
accident at all. The last thing he remembered was playing "Chutes and
Ladders" with his grandma that afternoon. I visited him in the hospital,
even though he didn't know who I was. He made a full recovery.

The family was excellent. The highway he ran into is heavily used by semis
avoiding a weigh station. They just kept telling me how lucky they were that
it wasn't a semi. Apparently, everyone thought he was with someone else, and
no one even knew that he wasn't being watched.

By the way, I didn't even get a ticket for that. It was deemed unavoidable
on my part.
