Really?

So a woman that was raped and is about to have a child with aids is
being consumerist if she decides to abort?

If there is a medical reason then its also 'wrong' and 'not teaching
people to love' ?

What if I am not religious? What are your arguments then?
These all seem terribly myopic.

You mentioned that aside from religion there is 'logic' and 'science' as
to why Abortion is wrong....but you stuck to religion...what about these
'other' reasons?

That's the most rediculous argument for killing a baby. Abortion is
wrong for many reasons. Some of those reasons are based in our religious
convictions, but other reasons exist in the realms of simple common
sense, logic, philosophy, science, jurisprudence.

What it does have in its favor at a political level is its appeal to the
consumerist mentality of the ruling white middle class. Two generations
of American bourgoise have been conditioned by Madison Avenue (through
television, films and glossy magazines) to believe that they have a
god-given right to full material happiness - and anything (or anyone)
who gets in the way of that is shit out of luck.

An unwanted pregnancy? No different than an unwanted CD player - simply
get rid of it and go on to the next commodity.

Historically, respect for life from conception until natural death was
basic to the nonviolent religions and philosophies of the East. Invoking
this tradition, human rights leaders from Gandhi to the Dalai Lama have
condemned abortion as a form of violence akin to other practices which
destroy human life and debase human dignity.

Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching people to love, but to
use violence to get what they want. That's why the greatest destroyer of
peace is abortion.
