With all due respect to Michael and Judith, I really wanted to stay out of this one. I am often too emotional on this topic to argue the points. Much as the Dinowitz's are. The difference is that this is their forum and if they choose to be emotional (or anything else) they can.
However, when others jump in with their half-baked opinion, I would feel remiss if I did not speak up. And let me mention from the outset that I in no way condone or pretend to understand suicide bombings. It just saddens me that the minds of young men (and women, in at least 2 cases) can be so manipulated, so twisted by those that would "hijack a religion" that they believe that killing themselves and other innocents is the only way to achieve their goals. In this conflict, as in any, there are two sides to the story. As a Palestinian American, I find it compelling that the Jewish people that I know are bitching about the roadmap, and the Palestinians that I know are bitching about the roadmap. Both groups complain healthily that the US is 'forcing' them to accept this plan. I have to ask, what is so wrong if they do.... For the first time in it's history, Isreal's neighbors will admit that it has a right to exist and be recognized. For the first time in 50 years the Palestinians will have a sovereign state of their own. Perhaps, just perhaps, some in the Arab world will look toward the US with something other than contempt? Michael, this is probably not the time or place to debate our views on this. As for Doug and John, please watch how you say things like "execute all terrorists immediately". I am assuming that you mean all terrorists who were given a fair and proper trial and sentenced to death under the laws of Isreal, correct? Otherwise how would they be any different from any other genocidal society in our history? Damn, I am at my job and really cannot get too fired up about this, so I will end this now. I do, however, always respect rational discussion of viewpoints that differ from mine, so I will be watching this thread.
