rather than clutter the talk list, i thought i'd ask ya'll if any of you
have worked with any J2EE compliant reporting solutions. i've managed to get
myself stuck reviewing software for our division, and all the ones i've
managed to find are pretty much 'the suck'.

the most important features (besides being J2EE) is the ability to deal with
oracle CLOBS, BLOBS, VARRAYS and OBJECTS. now here's a quick rundown of what
solutions i've looked at :

* JReport :
expensive, good ide, medium support. not terrible.
* Crystal 9 :
uber-expensive, overloaded, does export to a lot of stuff. not terrible.
* JFree :
open-source, not gonna touch it.
* Formula One e.Report :
this seems to be best of breed from what i've reviewed.
* Parallel Crystal :
i can't even tell what this one actually does. seems like a pirate (arr)
redistro of crystal 7.
* Oracle9i Reports :
mega-expensive, will handle all or datatypes obviously, but requires
upgrading all oracle servers.

so, if anyone has any better suggestions, or can tell me i'm just a doink
and that one of the listed is good, please, comment.

thanks,
