Tim, you have reached my research quota for the day. If you really want to
debate this, I suggest you find me more than one or two examples of
state-owned industry and get back to me. Right now I can't think of any,
though I suppose the james bay project and anything else that big probably
have some government funding. But then I bring up the Tennessee Valley
Authority. That's off the top of my head. When I think industry  I think of
the Ford plant in Brampton, the paper mills in Ottawa and Sault Ste Marie,
and the mining interests up north. All of these are privately owned, well,
Ford is a corporation and maybe some of the others are too, but they are
not government agancies.

Assuming you are correct about the mineral rights (this is not a topic I
have researched) this does not socialism make. There very much *is* private
property in Canada, sorry.

I have actually never paid taxes in Canada. Educate me. Do a compare and
contrast with the US system. Should be interesting.
