heh, I haven't run any benchmarks.

Here's a real-world example though -

A common task of mine is to dump pictures from my digital camera into a folder and
then run a batch process in my photo-editing program to generate thumnails for the
entire directory. On the old comp it would take roughly 5 - 7 seconds for each photo.
On the new comp it flips through them like shuffling a deck of cards - it's really
fast.

Games that used to not run well at 800x600 16bit color, textures turned down - will
now run smoothly at 1024x768+ 32bit color, textures turned way up.

With this board/processor - overclocking could also be in the picture with some faster
PC3200 RAM, but I'm waiting on that. A Radeon9800 Pro could also turn this into a top
performer, but that's still well over $300 even for the off-name brands.

I'll run some 3D marks when I get home though - it would be interesting to see where
this rig stands in the benchmarks. I know the P4 "800"Mhz FSB will blow it away in the
marks, but the processor alone for that kind of rig costs more than my whole computer
set-up - depending on which one you get.

Adam.
