Tim, I agree with your concerns over the state controlling the reproductive process. I disagree with my wife on that point, but I _do_ believe that there should be some sort of mandatory testing / education / licensing for parents. I don't have the answers on the how, it just disgusts me to read time and again about children dying or molested or whatever because of people who had no business being parents. I also agree with your feelings on the welfare state. But the real quandry is what do we do if we cut off welfare? I have a feeling that there will still be the disadvantaged kids, and it is not their fault, yet they will bear the brunt of the suffering.
ug, it's too much to think about when my vacation starts in 2.5 hours! :) BTW, Your constitutional argument is interesting and valid as well, I will have to make it my own next time I debate this with my wife! :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.coolfusion.com Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
