Wifey and I did movies last night. Figure I would throw out my opinions. Basic. Wow. This movie was sooooo bad. I mean it really bordered on the absurd. I really would have expected more of the cast. Umm John Travolta, Sammie Jackson, Giovanni Ribisi, that kid from boiler room, usually one of my favorite actors. They played the parts ok, I guess. However the story was predictable, and the military uniforms, rank structure and regulations were just all hosed up. There was a senior sergeant of some sort (they always just called him sarge, which you don't do), only he was wearing Spec 4 (E-4, lower enlisted) rank.
Spun Incredible. I wasn't really expecting much from this movie. My wife picked it, and I didn't even look at it. It had a really amazing cast: Mickey Rourke, an older meth chemist, Brittany Murphy, as his stripper girl friend, John Leguizamo, one of my favorites, a really messed up dealer, Mena Suvari, as his girlfriend, Chloe Hunter, hehehehe you have to see what happens to her, Deborah Harry, the main characters butch lesbian neighbor that does phone sex; incredible, Eric Roberts has a bit part, but does incredible, and finally some guy I never heard of, Jason Schwartzman, guess he's from Rushmore, and has some band called Phantom Planet that's starting to catch on, but he plays, well this loser basically. If you liked Requiem for A Dream, this movie is for you. Painful, sad, delirious. I loved it.
