I can only assume because this message came into my inbox in html format (though I don't view email in html format), that the whole purpose of this spam is to try and create a message which will not be perceived by many spam filters as spam and therefore allow the message to confirm their email address as valid by viewing or previewing the message in html which contains a "web bug" image which sends the email data back to their server. Granted the fact that my email address isn't confirmed won't do much for the fact that I still get dozens of spam every day.
