We're in the middle of setting up a new Windows network (WIN2K and WIN2003). I would
like to have the DMZ connection to the web servers on one switch and, via the second
NIC in the server, connect to the file and SQL servers on another switch. Something
like:

[Firewall]
   |
   | DMZ
   |
[Switch] [Switch]
   | | | |
   | | | |
[Web Server]-- | ----------------[File server]
                ------[SQL Server]

The problem is, when I try to configure the web servers I get an error about the
gateway settings. The gateways would be different for each of the dual NICs but
Windows won't let me configure this properly. For example, my settings would be:

NIC#1
IP: 65.119.242.10
Gateway: 65.119.242.1

NIC#2
IP: 192.168.0.10
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

The error that I get is:

Warning: Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single
network (such as an intranet or the Internet). They will not function properly when
the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks (such as one on your intranet and
one on the Internet). Do you want to save this configuration?

I really would like to keep the SQL abd file servers on their own gigabit switch both
for security and performance.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Howie
