re: slippery conditions,
I hope I never need to test if it works,
but my new Highlander came with Vehicle Skid Control -
senses yaw or lateral acceleration, 
selectively uses ABS and throttle to <hopefully> correct the skid.

(separate issue from the cruise control, but might be a life saver.)
