When the doctor is diagnosing you or trying to fix you, he's actually doing nothing more than you do when you provide tech support for someone. It's a little scary when you think about it that way. Doctors mess up more often that people think.
When I went in to have my liver biopsy, the doc read the "chart" wrong. I was supposed to have an ultrasound too, but he didn't see that part. Luckily, I had been keeping myself informed about what was supposed to be going on and asked him about the ultrasound. He told me I didn't need one. I told him that the hepatologist had requested that I have one in adition to the biopsy. He asked if I was sure and I had him look at the chart again. Yup. There was the request. So, I got to enjoy having pressure put on a, now, very sore part of my body. He actually said to me, "wow ... wish we knew that before we did the biopsy. This probably isn't too comfortable is it?". I felt like grabbing the ultrasound gel tube and squirting it in his eye. I wasn't happy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ian Skinner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2003 4:18 PM Subject: RE: Say What?
