I liked them conceptually, but I find that Piers Anthony must have the maturity of a cricket and I'm convinced he hates women. I mean really, a female character is captured and tortured. Fine, it's motivation for the hero. But to go into explicit detail about hooking electrified alligator clips up to the woman's nipples? And in a book that has a mostly juvenile audience? That's fine for hardcore porn among consenting adults with safewords, but in a fantasy setting read by impressionable boys whos hormones are so out of whack they get a hard on by just looking at a lamp post? And he does that kind of crap in a lot of his stories. Lots of underlying mysogyny in his books.
