One of our domain names had expired (by only few days) and they held it
hostage. We wanted to renew it or transfer it to our eNom account. But they
said they would not allow the transfer of the domain unless it was active.
So we renewed it with them and the transfer requests have still been denied.
They told us today that only the Admin contact can ok a transfer. When did
this happen? I have moved sites by just being the Technical contact before.
They also have very poor data. We updated our contact info on a domain name.
When you do a WhoIs it shows it correct but if you request the username and
password for the domain it shows the old info. Also I have only had one
domain registered through them (personally all others are clients) but some
how I have 4 accounts.
Now .org sites are handled like .gov site and you need an authorization code
to make changes. But you can't just get that on the site you have to call
them and then they try and pump sunshine up you're a_ss ad tell you bad
things will happen if you transfer your site to "Lesser" registrar.
I have been using eNom for a few years now with no problems. They have an
API, also you can write scripts to edit accounts using HTTP Request, I have
had to call them for support a few times and the turn around has been within
a few hours.

We used registrars.com way back in the day and of course when Verisign
bought them, we were their customer then. I have a list as long as my
leg of issues we have had with them. Some issues we have had our lawyers
look at. To this day, they still do not send out notifications to us or
our customers of domain names expiring.

we are in the process of moving our 300ish domains away from Verisign
because of their absolute shady business as far as domain registrars go.
but i guess the message is somewhat lessened by the fact that we do and
will continue to use them as a CC processing service.

Bah, I've been boycotting VeriSign for years. Ever since they tried
slamming
my domain registration with a different registrar. Of course, my boycott
is
pretty meaningful since I don't really have any business to send their
way
anyway.
