Yes, the IBM's pointer works great when manipulated gently with an index finger tip!
And you're right - laptops are more appropriate.
But they can't run Linix - it has Open Sores.

So have you standardized on a laptop vendor yet? I know that using a
TouchPad seems like an obvious choice, but the IBM pointer "nipple" has it's
followers.
