one I'm interested in getting is Flash MX Professional 2004 for Server
Geeks. It's supposed to concentrate solely on building RIA's and using
the new components. That's been the most frustrating thing for me with
the new Pro version, I can't find any good tutorials on using the new
Components. You would think they would have these ready to go when they
release the product. I guess in due time.

Subject: RE: Flash MX 2004 Pro and CFMX..displaying data in a grid
I got it to work!
I got the grid control to return values that I put into the restaurants
table!!!
I called a coldfusion MX cfc with a Flash web connector.
It's very simple...zero interaction just displaying data...but its cool!
And if it were explained better it might even be called 'easy' ;-)
Once you know how to do it , it isn't that difficult.
But, it is almost as though you need someone to actually sit and show
you how it's done.
I don't know how I'm going to manage more complex interactions like
doing something when you click on a row. :-)
Are there any books on this? Or is it much too soon since Flash MX 2004
Pro only just hit the market?

Thanks Candace,
actually...I sent htis website to the list a while back as a good
example of Flash-database interaction.
*embarressed chuckle*
Anyways...I followed the directions, and couldn't get hte darn tooting
thing to work.
I just used my .cfc in place of their php file sorta.
Didn't work.
So far I haven't found anything that shows how to do what I want, and
what I want is really simple.
I am going to scan Macromedia.com once more to see if they have anything
up that I might be missing.
But so far, using these 'easy to use' Flash MX Pro data controls to
access data is proving to be difficult, for lack of information for
integration with CFMX.
figures 0_0.

Sorry, Gel I just realized it was a PHP tutorial. If I were you, I'd try
posting this to the devmx.com list.
