started new jobs, frequently in the last few years, one would get holidays,
but not PAID holidays until one has been on the job for a set time. Usually
something between three and six months.
Don't know if this is what Gel is talking about. But it has happened to me
several times. And those short paychecks have hurt a couple of times.
The worst was a job I started in October of 1997. The company has a 1 WEEK
Christmas holiday from Christmas day to New Years day. That first year,
before it was a paid holiday for me was a big OUCH. But after that it was a
very handy week to have off.

Gel-
I was surprised by the "no holidays yet" -
am used to peeps not getting vacation until after a certain length of
employment, but holidays ?!?
Does this mean that the office is "closed" for a holiday, but the newbies
have to show up and work anyway?
Strange...
