I don't know. Keep in mind that the entire concepts of virtual machines and
sandboxes is working against you. People don't _want_ you to write a utility
that lets you read/write on a client's filesystem, and so _javascript_,
ActiveX, and java are going to make this difficult. I can't say impossible
because I don't have the chops. For all I know, someone will come along and
say "just use this dealio" and it will be easy. But most of the discussion
I've seen on it involves trying to leverage security hacks. And of course,
MS keeps releasing security updates to close those holes. So while it may
not be a herculean task, it could end up being sisyphean.

But hey, like I said. I don't have the chops. I'm a UI guy. If you find the
answer to your problem, please share. I can think of a place or two I could
use it.
