Yep, I caught it. Problem was, the sender was using a home brewed notice
which did not make a note in the subject that it was a vacation notice. I
check for that. I try not to scan every message that comes through and the
system would have to do that in order to have caught that message.
The problem was even worse as his system sent the vacation message on reply
to EVERY post he got. A proper vacation notice program should not do this to
mail set to bulk. I can say with pure assurance that this was not a problem
with my system in the least.

maybe I'll start blocking mail that has 4 or more RE: prefixes in a row.
