I'll have to find the writeup) that disallowed a state regulatory
commission to apply the same restrictions to VOIP phone services as were
levied on POTS Baby Bells. This was a big boost for VOIP matriculation,
and it's no shock that lobbyists for gigantic telecommunications
companies went immediately crying to their benevolent protector, Michael
Powell, who has yet to meet a technological innovation that he hasn't
wanted to interfere with. Look for a statement for the FCC saying that
severely limiting the influence of new VOIP services will magically
spark innovation in the field.
