lol ohhh memories. Up until a couple months ago I was in charge of the
ediets mail servers and our newsletters. I'm well aware of the
anti-spammers who claim we are everything from spammers to having mail
servers that are not secured properly yadda yadda. Its an ongoing fight
with the evil spews and spamhaus etc to try and keep us off their
arbitrary lists. This will digress into a discussion on why these
anti-spam lists do more harm then good and why its harmful for people to
use the more arbitrary blacklists. There are some lists out there that
are somewhat based in reality and are a little easier to get things
worked out. And in my own defense I've told the company management
several times we need to goto true doubleoptin which we don't use. I
created a full doubleoptin system that works and handled it but some
execs thing it would effect sales too much so we can't use it as of yet.
That would help take care of alot of the problem. Alot of the problem is
antispam fanatics they will subscribe tons of email addresses just to
piss them off and make them complain but we've been good enough to keep
the situation in hand and its slowly getting better little by little.

Thanks for the concern though and we're well aware of it lol.
Unfortunately people in the IT dept have to answer to the execs and they
are taking their time coming around to the facts that doubleoptin would
save us in the IT dept so many headaches lol.

Bill;
This is off topic, that is if anything can be off topic on CF-Community.

I notice the reference to ediets.com in you signature, so I thought I
would ask.

I notice, for one that ediets mail server is listed on a number of
anti-spam
block lists, and according to records maintained by them, is a prolific
spammer,
spewing out everything from pirated software to those fake enlargement
scams.

I know my own mail server is small potatoes compared to some of the
mainstream
providers but it is being hammered constantly with attempts to send
spam.

for instance, my server report from just yesterday shows the following:

Sender address rejected: Domain not found
         235   [EMAIL PROTECTED]
  blocked using blackholes.easynet.nl
           4   ediets.com

IP number 216.52.164.191 is listed on 5 blacklists.
IP number 216.52.164.192 is listed in 4 black lists
IP number 216.52.164.54 is listed as spam support on 5 blacklists.
spam support - hosting sendoutmail.com and jdrmedia.com"

If ediets themselves are not responsible for all this spamming, then it
is
possible the mail server has been compromised and is being used as an
open relay
for spammers.  I do know, that if the situation continues, your service
provider
will be receiving complaints, as well as legitimate email encountering
difficulty is getting delivered to those systems that employ anti-spam
filtering. All I can tell at this point that my server will not accept a
SMTP
connection from any of the ediets servers due to the blacklists that I
use.
