I don't think so, I certainly haven't seen any of his work that sounds
like that.

You may be more familiar with the titles of the individual books:

Northern Lights (The Golden Compass in the USA)
The Subtle Knife
The Amber Spyglass

I just had an email listing films about to be made in the UK, buried in
the middle of it was this:

"His Dark Material
Tom Stoppard is adapting the big-screen version of the excellent Philip
Pulman trilogy. Still in early stages and not expected to shoot
until well into the new year. No director is yet attached."

I hope they get this one right, and I hope it's a trilogy!
