You wouldn't say "Later Day Saints", would you? Maybe "followers of the
Church of Later Day Saints" or something?
What I meant was that many people in the US have a pretty clear picture of
the kind of polygamy practiced by the LDS Church in the last century, and
therefore this is an easy to understand example of heterosexual, 1 man many
wives polygamous marriage.
Do Mormon's not like the term "Mormon"? Is it not similar to the term
"Catholic" or "Protestant", in reference to a particular "Christian" sect?
Is it offensive to them, or just not the latest PC term? Has this been true
for a long time? What is a better term?
Wow, I learn some good things on this list, none of which help me program
Cold Fusion!

There I go not proof reading well enough. The point is Mormons (Later Day
Saints if you please) are NOT allowed multiple wives by either the official
church or state anymore. Sheese what confusion leaving off a little "'nt"
can cause.

Well, Mormon's are allowed more then one wife, at least not legally anymore.
Thanks to government pressure some hundred years ago or so.
That doesn't mean there are some practicing the old ways, with different
degrees of openness and problems. There is some pretty bad stuff going on
in remote area's of Utah and other Four Corner states in the name of
"tradition">
