I'm a long time CFer, but this time I've got a political ax to grind :)
Lamar Alexander and co. are still working to lift the Internet tax
moratorium.
Last time it was up for a vote, the moratorium was unanimously upheld.
This time through Senator Alexander's efforts and quiet but intense
pressure from state governors (they'd be the beneficiaries) the vote is
close. Sources show a dead heat on this issue, with 44 Senators quietly
committed to killing the moratorium.
An Internet tax will be regressive and it will kill one of the few
economic bright spots of the past few years. Send a letter to key
Senators encouraging them to extend the moratorium. It only takes a
moment, and time is short.
Go to http://www.goiam.org/communicator/inettax/form.cfm to write a
letter.
Thanks,
Ian Lurie
