1) You throw a grenade and they run away from it
2) You throw a sticky grenade onto a grunt, they'll try to run away, but
he'll run into a group of them "away" from the grenage <g>
3) The way the Flood attack the Covenant when they're together - just
sit back and enjoy them killing each other <g>
It's slower paced than some FPSs, but I find that an advantage to the
gameplay
As for people saying that mouse driven FPSs are better - comparing GTA
Vice City on PS2 and PC is a good example of why it's sometimes worse
There are some levels which are ROCK HARD with a pad, when you have to
move to a decent position to get a shot, but you control it with a
mouse, and suddenly you can shoot anyone, anywhere - which takes away
from the playability of the game...
Oh, and for a little fun - try killing the marines in Halo - they turn
on you as you've gone "rogue" (unless there's only a couple and you
manage to kill them before they can get the message out <g>)

I found my experience playing Halo to be remarkable.
The game is fantastic and definitely one of the top games of the first
person shooter genre.
The graphics, the AI, the weapons and the game balance are great.
The outdoor environments are large and well detailed.
It was also one of the first games to introduce vehicular combat in a
FPS.
Ramping off ledges in the 4x4 Warthog whilst your friend blasts enemies
from the machine gun mounted on the back in a Co-Op Campaign is
exhiliarating!
Multiplayer combat with HALO is also another fantastic experience with
customisable gameplay modes and vehicles.
Console FPS shooters compensate for a lack of precision when using your
thumb on a stick by having the targetting reticule 'stick' to a target
if you move it near. Hence you don't need as much precision (which is
good because you can't get it) to get your shots on target.
To me, Halo is a must play for any Xbox gamer :)
Halo was more than hype, long after the hype is over Xbox gamers have
voted for the quality, playability and worth of the title with their
gaming dollars. ;-)

Yeah, except mouselook works great for most instances - and it's
basically a de facto standard, since you have a little more precise
control over things like a targeting reticule with your fingertips than
you do with your thumb on a stick.
That said, Metroid Prime's control scheme (for the GameCube) is rock
solid and amazingly precise.
