I recently finished a book about some of the more interesting Roman and
Greek inventions. Their equivalent of Silicone Vally was Alexandria in
Egypt, and later also Athens Greece. Only it stayed that way for hundreds
of years until the Persian conquest of Egypt in the 6th century.
