We have THOUSANDS of digital photos which include an ADS (because of the
camera), but I don't want to delete the image
Is there any way to remove the ADS without deleting the files?

Delete statement with the full name.

The ones you put there. Plus the ones you accidentally put in when
FTP'ing files with a colon in the name from a Unix host. It should never
be executable.
