Yep. And because of it he understood the power of the arts as a medium for
creating change in how people think. The Cat in the Hat came about because
he was put off by how children were being raised to obey their parents and
follow rules. Looking past the happy colors and funny rhymes, it's basically
a lesson in not obeying your parents.

He's a perfect example of why I feel that funding the arts is so important.
It influences society in amazing, yet subtle ways.
