A bit bored with counter-strike, I tried Everquest a year or so ago.  I really, really wanted to get into it, but I just couldn't.  After a few hours of the repetitive bat/rat bashing, I went to the guild dude(or whatever it was) for my first quest which was fighting some lions or something.  I got smacked down.  Hard.  So I spent a few days buffing my newbie character out and went back.  Except some bug wouldn't let me do it.  I tried to get some help from one of the in game support people, but to no avail.  So that was that.

I had looked forward to planetside coming out, as it looked to combine the persistent character building of of EQ with the fps action of CS.  My system is a little under spec to run it currently(AMD 2200 & geforce3), but I should be able to squeeze by.  I just haven't gotten around to giving it a try.

The star wars one got luke-warm reviews and it doesn't really grab me.  Seems to be doing well off of the brand than the actual game.

I am VERY excited, however, by Worlds of Warcraft.  I'm a total WC3 RC junkie, and blizzard just doesn't make a bad game.  I'm hoping that this will be the first MMORPG to grab me.  Anyone know the expected release date?

Matthew.

I couldn't imagine playing a girl character. They would have to
explain themselves to every person you met, or try and fake their way
through girly conversations. Essentially role-playing the entire
time. It would be tough to enjoy the actual gaming aspect of it all.
I do run across couples playing every day though.

The mmorpg games are really popular with women for some reason. I
never expected it really (the whole d&d thing was mostly guys). I'm
currently addicted to the Evercrack, but after seeing EQ, my gf wants
to play too.
