The study only covered type 2 patients.  There is speculation that it
could help with type 1 as well.  Since I have both (sorta) I'm gonna
give it a try.

I can't find anyone who talks about why it works, even guesses.  I'm
pretty curious, but it looks like one of those based entirely on
empiracal evidence.
