I don't really mind the proprietary markup (as it's ignored) but it does
bloat things up.


MS has a tool on their site called the "MS Office HTML Cleaner"
(msohtmf2.exe) which removes all of the proprietary stuff (and shrinks the
file considerably).  I've used it in the past but not recently - I don't
know if it improves the quality of the code any, but it may be useful.

I have a large content site that requires updates regularly.
The updates are only content-based and have alot of formating.
Is there any downsides to posting the msword to html formating?
