Well I do have an advantage, as far as the Internet, he knows nothing
other than email, a few cheat web sites and messenger. He has no idea
what IRC is and doubt he would even try to log in without asking me for
help.

I know all about IRC though and what is out there. Even before I got
here Amy (his mother) has preached to him several times about how he
should not talk to anyone on the net he does not know.

Since I'm working from home now, he can't use the computer without my
knowledge. Knowing I'm a few feet away or in the other room should also
deter him.

Something to keep in mind though with Trillian is IRC. IRC can become a
great sucking timesink of social dependency, and most social channels
are
playgrounds of debauchery and theivery. If you're concerned about the
peer
influence, friends on IRC are probably what most parent would consider a
bad
environment.

(I don't have an opinion on it, just passing along my observations.)
