  I really agree with Larry. I think a committed relationship, whether marriage or not, is a partnership. If one goes off making decisions that affect both without consulting, that's not right.

  Eri*K*a and Philip have an excellent perspective on this - if it isn't significant, then of course go ahead and do it.
