Ahh... Makes a bit more sense now... Small town of 1800 ...

She's getting a visit from Barny Fife, "Evening m'aam. <sniiiiifff>
I'm just following up on a report we had earlier today, nothing to be
concerned about, somebody wantin' to buy a flight simulator for a ten
year old boy. Clerk thought it was a little suspicious, you know,
<sniiiiifff> little kid and a really complicated piece of computer
software. Especially what with september 11th and all. I'm just here
to make sure everything's allright."...

I don't give much credence to the Register... but they got the article
off of a small-town newspaper website (I'm sure you saw this one,
'cause you quoted stuff that's in their article that's not on the
Register):

Here's a site with some info on the location:

It's still rather distressing what kind of paranoia people are willing
to accept.

"Shortly before Christmas, the FBI issued a terror alert to beware of
drivers with maps, or reference books." ... So now if I have relatives
somwhere else I'm not allowed to take a road atlas with me when I go
visit them during the holidays otherwise I'm a suspected terrorist.

I guess the next time I walk into a crowded shopping mall with a
paper-clip in my hand I'll be arrested on suspicion of using it to
pick the lock on a utility door and sabotage the electrical system so
I can blow up the mall with everybody in it. Muahahahaha!!!!!!

Anybody else seen Paycheck? Good movie I thought. There was one line
toward the end, the villain says "I'm the future, Mike!" and something
about the way he said it just sounded hoaky, like "as opposed to the
past Mike who I'm killing now. I'm going to kill you and take your
place, muahahahaha" -- though that wasn't what he meant. If I'd been
directing I'd have had them retake it and had him say "Michael" to try
and make it sound better. There's also a gag with a spinning chair
during a police interrogation that just sucked -- we're going to make
this chair spin while we interrogate you ... for no apparent reason.
But other than that I thought it was a pretty decent film, pretty well
written in spite of being largely an action/FX movie.
