fwiw it seems that here in albuquerque there was no particular stampede to restaurants outside the city, although there were dire predictions of businesses goign belly up... and this is according to the local pro-business pro-development pro-Bush rag, so I guess you can discount prejudices. They were against the ban on smoking in restaurants at the time. It may however make a difference that smoking is still allowed in bars here.
