Intel is rumored to be trying to rush the market toward PCI Express
though, by removing an AGP port in the next proposed chipset designs,
while VIA is providing both a PCI-X 16 and an AGP port on it's
offerings.
I can't imagine why Intel has decided to hit the consumer into the PCI-X
zone so quickly, but big vendors such as DELL will probably lead the
charge and the enthusiast 'build your own' market will probably follow.
Guess I'll hold out on upgrading for now :)
