Well, in January our oldest dog had a stroke, she couldnt stand up and was
obviously disoriented for the balance of the day. The vet ran all the tests
and in the end her condition do not improve so we made the choice to have
her put to sleep. She is now buried in the woods next to our pond and we are
building a memorial garden in the area as we eventually plan to bury all of
our pets in the area.

Our other dog was obviously affected by her loss, and we felt that it was
time to get another dog, for him and for us. So we got a 4 month old puppy
called Maggie. She is a German Shep mixed (but mostly GS, as far as I can
tell). Her story is really sad. Her litter were all strays, found living
under a car, covered with motor oil. One of them was burned from the car,
and they all had been ingesting the oil. We got her on Saturday, and she
spent the balance of the day hiding. She finds the most comfort in hiding
under things, which obviously is not suprising. She had a dominant
personality sibling who she took all of her queues from, and the shelter
felt it was best to seperate them, so she could develop her own personality.
Just in the couple days we have had her, we can see a huge improvement in
her socialization. We also have rescued a feral cat, which still to this day
is very skittish and afraid. Hopefully just the fact that Maggie is a dog,
and has a big brother dog, she will be well adjusted and get to enjoy the
life she has ahead of her.

We are doing our best to pet her alot and hold her for extended periods of
time, as well as getting her used to lots of people. You know how friends
and new puppies are, they've just got to see them.

Oh well, hopefully I'll get some pictures of her you all can see.
