Thanks for the note.  I've just bought Vonage digital voice phone service,
which came with a small device, I was asked to connect it with a cable modem
on one end and my PC on the other, my net connection seems to continue to
be fine and the new phone is working.   The old IP address before the phone
device plugin was 68.32.61.40, it does not seem to be accessible from
my own box.  Are you suggesting that the phone device is also "acting" like
a firewall, which blocks outside accessing my machine?  Please also note,
Vonage phone device does not come with any software installation (I took
it that they have a remote setup "thing" going on with the device), I'm
going to check with them immediately in the meantime.  Again, I appreciate
it.
