The best way I can describe it is that during those 3D scenes (like the vic's apartment, the crime scene, the ME's office, the Precinct) the scene either spins for like 60 seconds and then I can finally do something, or there are black pixels all over the place (makes it hard to see). I am thinking I don't have enough memory on my video card. Also, I looed at the software Marlon suggested, but L&O wasn't listed in the game database. Does that mean that it won't work with the said game? Or could it be that no one has added it to the list? *shrugs*

I'm sorry, Candace, I just noticed I never replied..  O-o

Did you get this resolved?

The software Marlon recommended would be a great try.

I just haven't had time to read up on the games actual mechanics.  You
said it gets dodgy when looking for evidence; like a mouseover, old
school sierra kings-quest/leisure suit larry style?

I've had mouse problems solved by directX patch before.  Or try a ps2
instead of use for your mouse and kb.  CS used to lag me when I zoomed
the sniper scope; I thought that was just the way the game did it for
like 2 years till I got my new box.  Same thing happened with bf1942
demo.

Course these are 3d engines, yours looks like a 2d hunt and click ala
myst, with fmv mixed in.. I s that correct or am I off still?

Thanks,

Matthew P. Smith

I tired moving it to the faster CD drive, but that didn't seem to help.
It's all cool and the gang until I am in one of those "move the cursor
to find something" scenes.

Which sux, since I could be missing a piece of evidence.

Ok, ill look online through a few articles tonight after class and check
it out.  Basically, I just want to know if it is using a 3d engine or
just all fmv cut scenes or what.  3d = lower the resolution or get a
better video card, fmd, you might look at ghosting the cd to your drive,
removing the drive speed factor if your hd has enough space.

Was there an option to do a full install, or partial?  Usually the full
install puts everything on the hd and you only need the disk in the
drive for copy protection.

Matthew.

Law & Order: Dead on the Money

Or

<http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/laworder2/index.html> Law & Order
II: Double or Nothing

Just want to see what kind of games you are trying to run, might be able
to offer some tips.

Subject: PC Gaming question

So, to top off my addiction to Law and Order, I bought the game this
weekend. My computer is a 1.4 GHZ with around 400 MB of RAM (RDRAM..
damn you Dell).

Anyway, when I load up the game, the scenes look grainy and the mouse is
slow to respond. My Video card is an NVida.

Am I just ignorant of the whole process or is there something wrong or
is my computer incapable? Anything I can do to make the repsonse faster?
(Short of buying more RAM.... RDRAM is ridiculously expensive these
days.)
