It's been a while since I installed it, but I seem to remember it asking
very politely which server I wanted to install on.

Um. If you really want to reflect the production environment, then you
should be running IIS. Saying that MM's basic server is badly
configured because it's not just like IIS seems kinda silly to me.
But that's just me, and I can be a jerk sometimes. :-)
